BACKGROUND

Wahu Wangari is an Associate at Odhiambo & Odhiambo Advocates, a Researcher and Consultant at the firm’s policy, research, consulting and academic wing, Prof. Ruth Aura Consultancy. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from Egerton University (Kenya) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law (Kenya).

Her professional interests lie at the intersection of gender justice, environmental governance, human rights, and public policy, with a strong foundation in constitutional interpretation and research-based advocacy. She has advised local and international clients on immigration and nationality matters, family and succession law, and civil and commercial litigation, while also contributing to policy and legislative research in climate systems and social inclusion.

Wahu brings to her practice a unique interdisciplinary lens that blends law, research, and social inquiry. She has participated in consultancies and academic research projects focusing on gender equality, women ‘s political participation, climate justice, environmental law, micro-financing, and small business enterprises, including national and comparative studies examining how legal frameworks can promote equity and sustainability. Her background includes working on projects addressing femicide policy reform, gender-responsive climate action, and access to justice for marginalized communities.

  • Currently part of the legal team handling an appeal on the Re Duplum Rule, challenging disproportionate interest accrual and unitemised execution in financial transactions.
  • Research assistant in a national climate and environmental justice project, focusing on gender parity in policy development and the public accessibility of environmental governance frameworks.
  • Contributor to a policy framework on femicide in Kenya, exploring how legislation and institutional design can strengthen prevention, protection and justice for victims.
  • Involved in international climate-change research and consultancy, leveraging legal analysis, policy innovation and transnational partnerships to advance environmental and gender justice.
  • Part of the legal research team in a Supreme Court petition that successfully demonstrated a failure to meet the constitutional-interpretation threshold under Article 163(4)(a), reaffirming Supreme Court jurisdictional discipline.
2nd Part
